Amelia returned to the venue, once again surrounded by a group of men.
This time, however, she maintained a slight distance.
Not far away, Marsh glanced in her direction. Seeing Amelia keep her distance from those people relieved much of the dissatisfaction in his heart; it seemed like Amelia had taken his words to heart.
Yet he was unaware that Amelia had already crafted an image of him as a scumbag pseudo-gentleman.
The reason for keeping her distance had nothing to do with Marsh; it was only that she didn’t know if Godfery had left yet, and she didn’t want Godfery to see her getting close to other men.
Amelia never wished for Godfery to see her calculating and malicious side.
Amelia quietly answered the questions of those around her, and more and more people began to notice her.
She seemed to radiate light, so beautiful that no matter where she stood, she became the focus of the crowd.
While looking at Amelia, they also noticed that the jewelry she wore didn’t quite suit her.
It wasn’t that it wasn’t beautiful, but it just seemed out of place at a glance.
And it wasn’t a piece from Cloudglow but a mainline piece from the Wright family. The reason why she wore it was quite obvious.
No wonder the Wright family’s latest set of designs seemed to be cut from the same mold as Cloudglow’s.
Bullying a young girl like that, Oliver was really heartless.
Until the end of the banquet, Marsh never found an opportunity to be alone with Amelia.
Amelia left with Oliver.
In the car, Oliver sternly remarked, "Amelia, those second-generation rich kids are all spoiled brats; you shouldn’t get too close to them."
Amelia leaned back in her seat, her tone somewhat casual, "They want to recruit me to their companies."
When facing Oliver, Amelia didn’t appear as pitiful as everyone else had seen earlier.
Her expression was indifferent, so indifferent that it was as if Oliver wasn’t even in her eyes.
Hearing this, Oliver’s expression changed slightly, "Did you agree?"
"No, Cloudglow offers decent treatment, so I don’t plan on leaving for now."
Oliver breathed a sigh of relief but felt a bit disgruntled.
Amelia didn’t agree to go elsewhere, but she also didn’t agree to return to the Wright family. It’s getting harder and harder to fool her. Everything will have to wait until she’s married to Marsh.
They arrived at the Wright family home.
Hailey came running over to help Amelia open the car door, whispering something to her.
Amelia smiled knowingly as she gazed at Bess Bennett, who couldn’t be fully hidden by the landscaping trees in the distance.
Recently, she had been provoking Bess.
Finally, she couldn’t hold back any longer.
Amelia pretended not to see Bess, suddenly turning to Oliver and asking, "Mr. Wright, if I join the Wright Corporation, will I be able to inherit the family’s legacy in the future?"
On the surface, Oliver had no sons, just a daughter named Ava, so it stood to reason that the Wright family’s inheritance would go to Ava.
Oliver was momentarily stunned by Amelia’s sudden question.
Was Amelia hesitating about returning to the Wright family? Was she fighting for her own interests?
Oliver nodded directly, "Of course, I’ve worked hard my whole life, and in the end, this legacy is for both you and Ava."
Amelia smiled with satisfaction, "Alright, I believe you, Mr. Wright."
Oliver was inwardly cold. For now, no matter what Amelia wanted, he could agree, and as for what happens in the future, that would be dealt with later.
Bess, who was stealthily watching from not far away, saw this scene and her eyes turned red with anger.
How could they let Amelia inherit the Wright family?
She was starting to suspect that Oliver had been lying to her.
He claimed it was all a scheme against Amelia, but what about now?
Now that she’s been divorced and not yet remarried, and is homeless after being kicked out of the house.
Ava was also sent abroad, and if she doesn’t return soon, the Wright family would practically belong to Amelia.
Oliver paraded around with this illegitimate child, giving her custom-made dresses and expensive jewelry, things that even Ava couldn’t get.
The more Bess thought about it, the more unfair it seemed.
Why did she have to live in a tiny house while Amelia could comfortably occupy the Wright family villa?
Bess, although angry, still retained some sanity.
She waited for Oliver to leave with some documents before stepping forward to knock on the door.
A maid opened the door and looked at Bess, asking, "May I know who you’re looking for?"
Bess looked at the unfamiliar maid in front of her and was momentarily stunned, being asked who she was looking for at her own home?
She suppressed her anger and gritted her teeth, "I’m looking for Amelia." Google seaʀᴄh noᴠelfire.net
The maid politely responded, "Miss is resting; perhaps you could come back later, or leave a name and phone number, and I’ll inform her when she wakes up."
Bess couldn’t hold back her temper any longer.
She had been under pressure lately, and now even a maid dared to give her trouble.
Bess raised her hand and slapped the maid fiercely, saying, "Get out of the way. After all these years of living here, how dare you block me, go fetch Amelia!"
The maid covered her cheek, which had turned red from the slap.
Bess shoved the maid aside and barged in.
Upon entering, she looked at the villa and felt a sense of unfamiliarity; many things had been changed.
The lilies she loved in the garden had been uprooted, and she angrily asked, "Who touched the flowers here?"
The new gardener, going about his duties, replied, "Miss is allergic to pollen and asked for them to be replaced."
Bess clenched her fists tightly and gritted her teeth, "Again, it’s Amelia. Where is she?"
On the second floor, Amelia was leaning on the railing, looking downstairs at Bess in the hall, and lazily said, "Mrs. Wright, or rather, I should call you Mrs. Bennett, is there something you want with me?"
Bess looked up, gazing at Amelia.
Earlier, Jane had mentioned that Amelia had moved into Ava’s room, and Bess hadn’t dared to believe it, but now she had seen it with her own eyes.
That heartless Oliver, how could he treat her and Ava like this?
Bess was completely infuriated and lost all rationality, yelling, "Amelia, this is my home! Get out!"
Amelia looked at her calmly; Bess was easily provoked.
In a previous life, to have been oppressed by such a foolish person, she truly had been naive.
Amelia started to laugh, her eyes arching, speaking particularly gently, "Mrs. Bennett, what position do you have to tell me to leave? Mr. Wright pleaded for me to come back. If I truly left, I wonder if he would mind?"
Bess knew it was Oliver who wanted Amelia back.
And she also knew Oliver’s schemes, to make Amelia work hard for the Wright Corporation and to plot against the Allen family, but she was angry and couldn’t hold it in.
Bess warned viciously, "Amelia, you won’t meet a good end!"
Amelia covered her face, laughing. No good end? In her previous life, she indeed had a miserable end.
But in this life, she didn’t seek a good result; she wanted to drag all these people down to hell with her.
"What happens to me is my business, but I see, Mrs. Bennett, you might not meet a good end, declining in age and beauty, abandoned by your husband, ignored by your daughter. Truly pitiable!"
Bess was indeed feeling abandoned now; lately, Amelia’s constant provocation had nearly sparked an outburst of her inner unease.
Hearing Amelia say this, she no longer cared about any so-called secrets, gritting her teeth, "You’re talking nonsense, Oliver will remarry me."
Amelia casually said, "Really? How long did Mr. Wright say he’d remarry you? Three to five days, one or two months, or how long? Will you see it in your lifetime? Now please leave, you’re too loud and disturbing my rest."
