Bang!
Yan Luo fired a shot.
The bullet, propelled by gunpowder, exited the barrel with a bang, exploding and splitting into multiple pellets, forming an irregular cone that suddenly dispersed.
The scattered pellets, like petals from a celestial flower, effortlessly struck towards the Demon, with the shot coated in light and fire, bombarding the skewed shield covering the body of the Enchanted Moth.
All the pellets were deflected by the shield, skidding to the sides, failing to hit the moth’s body.
Yan Luo quickly pulled the fore-end, then pressed the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
One shotgun shell after another burst out of the barrel, the pellets like a curtain of rain, falling upon the Enchanted Moth.
The Enchanted Moth couldn’t even scatter its scales because the wind generated by the pellets was sufficient to blow them away.
It could only use the scales smeared on various parts of the forest to conjure a great wind, letting the wind carry it away from Yan Luo’s line of fire.
The Enchanted Moth flew nimbly with the crisscrossing winds, swiftly moving out of Yan Luo’s firing range.
At this point, Yan Luo had already emptied the bullets from the magazine.
While drawing new bullets from his satchel to load into the magazine, Yan Luo kept alert to the surroundings, evading scale dust, tracking the Enchanted Moth.
Once the magazine was filled, Yan Luo pressed a side button on his chest harness, causing the satchel to rotate, the emptied clip sliding into the backpack, allowing the automatic bullet loader inside to load bullets and slide out the filled clip.
Yan Luo maneuvered to the side, raising his hand to fire bullets at the Enchanted Moth behind a tree.
The moth flapped its wings, drifting into flight.
Multiple pellets continued to bombard the skewed shield, again being deflected.
Despite the subtle changes, Yan Luo’s current perception made him notice the slight reduction in the slant of the deflected pellets.
About eighty more shotgun shells would be needed to break the Enchanted Moth’s skewed shield.
However, Yan Luo wouldn’t be that wasteful.
Using nearly a hundred shells on a single Dangerous-level Demon would be far too extravagant.
Although Yan Luo carried ample supplies, he needed to earn ten million from this hunt and couldn’t afford to waste so many bullets on the Enchanted Moth.
Thus, Yan Luo strode forward aggressively.
He had already observed the environment, calculated a route in his mind that could take him directly to the front of the Enchanted Moth.
Where scales existed, where they didn’t, where one could land, and once the moth attacked, where one could dodge... Yan Luo considered every scenario.
Seeing Yan Luo charge over, the Enchanted Moth quickly scattered scales.
This time, it did not wait for the scales to float in front of Yan Luo to cast Magic, for it knew the scales wouldn’t reach there.
As soon as the scales left its body, they were triggered to transform into wind projectiles, rushing towards Yan Luo.
This was within Yan Luo’s calculations; he paused, turned sideways, and hid behind a tree.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The wind projectiles hit the tree trunk in succession, shattering the bark, sending splinters flying.
Three, two, one!
Yan Luo counted down silently, then dashed out from behind the tree, turning to aim at the direction of the Enchanted Moth. Check latest chapters at Novᴇl_Fire(.)net
Despite the moth flapping its wings, scattering scales while changing its position, Yan Luo swiftly reacted, immediately pulling the gun to aim at the moth, firing again.
The pellets tore through the scales, scattering them, so even if the Moth cast Magic, it couldn’t harm Yan Luo.
Helpless, the Enchanted Moth had to use the scattered scales to conjure a great wind, swiftly propelling itself away.
Yan Luo predicted the flight trajectory of the moth, pulled out a shock grenade, set the detonation time, then suddenly unleashed his full strength, his feet sinking into the soil, and he forcefully threw the grenade.
The shock grenade sliced through the sky, at the end of its path colliding with a tree, erupting in sound and light.
If not for the moth’s swift reaction, triggering another wind to propel itself away, the shock grenade could have paralyzed it.
Even though the moth avoided the direct impact of the grenade, when the shock wave swept over its body, it still involuntarily entered a stiff state.
Fortunately, it spread its wings, allowing the wind blowing through the gaps between trees to lift its body and push it away.
The stiff state didn’t last long; the Enchanted Moth suddenly shook its wings, scattering numerous scales, stirring up a storm in the forest.
The scales resting on the trees were stirred up, flying chaotically.
Seeing this, Yan Luo urgently dove sideways, sprawled on the ground, and curled up to minimize his contact area with the air, pulling a cloth from his backpack to cover himself.
This level of storm was not something a normal Enchanted Moth could conjure; they could only use minor Magic, indicating this moth must have absorbed other Demons and fused with their abilities.
Images of various Demons flashed through Yan Luo’s mind; he was uncertain what abilities the moth had fused with.
Moments later, the storm subsided, and Yan Luo quickly lifted the cloth from his body, swung his arms twice, then tossed it aside.
Sure enough, the cloth, stained with a large amount of scale powder, suddenly burst into flames.
Soon after, Yan Luo saw fire rising everywhere.
The Enchanted Moth was nowhere in sight, having fled somewhere, seemingly intent on burying Yan Luo with this fire.
Yan Luo took deep breaths of oxygen, activated the sonar, allowing sound waves to swiftly spread through the forest.
Previously refraining from activating sonar to remain stealthy, now amidst combat with the moth, he would be foolish not to use it.
The sensory module scanned the surrounding environment, capturing the trace of a living creature a hundred meters away.
Yan Luo immediately sprinted; the newly ignited flames in the forest couldn’t harm him, as the hundred-meter distance was merely seconds for him.
It seemed as though he employed the legendary ’Shrinking the Earth into Inches,’ quickly reaching the rear of the Enchanted Moth.
Perceiving Yan Luo’s approach, the moth twirled in the air and scattered numerous scales.
It intended to transform the scales into an explosion, unaware that Yan Luo abruptly performed a slide tackle, minimizing his height.
Boom!
The scales did explode, yet the resulting flames barely touched Yan Luo, and even the air displaced by the blast couldn’t budge him.
Slapping his palm on the ground, Yan Luo stood up, taking large strides towards the moth, firing continuously.
One shotgun shell after another thudded against the moth, as the distance between Yan Luo and the Demon closed, the kinetic energy consumed by the bullets in transit dramatically reduced.
The skewed shield enveloping the moth visibly weakened with each shot; just thirty more shells would obliterate the moth entirely.
Yan Luo emptied the bullets from his magazine, suddenly holstering the shotgun, and flipped out the grappling gun.
The grappling hook shot out, snagging the tree behind the moth, quickly rewinding, pulling Yan Luo’s body towards the tree.
In mid-arc, Yan Luo pressed the release key, retracting the hook, his foot thrusters firing up, accelerating his run.
The moth presumed Yan Luo would rush straight to it. Unexpectedly, Yan Luo planted his foot on a roadside tree, launching his body into the air.
Gripping the knife handle backward, Yan Luo vigorously drew the blade, slashing out a crescent arc.
The sword light sliced through the air, passed through the moth’s body, severing its head, thorax, and abdomen, even tearing apart its wings.
Plop!
The moth’s body fell to the ground, twitched twice, another arc of light descended, Yan Luo stabbed the moth’s head, then twisted the handle, shredding its head.
This time, the moth was beyond saving, instantly crumbling into Magic Power.
Yan Luo watched as a vortex of Magic Power formed, a pile of powder suddenly dropping.
His eyebrow twitched; he hurriedly retrieved a container from his backpack, carefully storing the powder inside, not leaving a speck behind.
This was the most valuable material on the moth; just this amount could fetch nearly a million.
After collecting the powder, Yan Luo could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Relaxing, Yan Luo turned to glance at the flames blazing behind him, swiftly leaving the area to avoid being enveloped by the fire.
Yan Luo reached his motorcycle, mounted it, and quickly departed.
Sitting on the bike, Yan Luo finally had time to ponder the problem.
——Why were those two Enchanted Moths in the same place?
