Chapter 396: The devil’s wish 3 days ago

Jia had learned it from Mingshen before that the woman in the coma had taken a bullet for him and she was the same girl he met again, who was part of Yang Cheng’s research participants twelve years ago.

At first, she had simply assumed she came from somewhere else but now that she learned she was from Huayuan, something of a spark lit up in her mind. She continued staring at her from outside the room while Yang Bingqing happily chatted with her inside.

"Spicy, are you worried she would snatch your position? Are you feeling threatened by a rival’s entry?" Mingshen pouted. "Worry not for my heart is only set on you!"

"You watch too many dramas," she rolled her eyes.

"You are not feeling even a little bit jealous? I sincerely feel she took the bullet for me because she dearly loves me."

"Wow, women left and right fawning over Dr. Yang Mingshen."

He sheepishly grinned. "Well you know-"

"Miss. Xie and now her. You are so lucky," she smiled.

"..."

"Spicy, you didn’t count yourself."

"I’m not on the list."

"But doesn’t your heart beat for me so passionately?" He drew circles on her shoulder.

"As a good friend, yes."

Mingshen tilted his head. "We are friends?"

Jia paused. "I think we have faced a lot of things together that would at least elevate us from being enemies. And..."

She lightly coughed. "Well we do care about each other..."

Whether it was Mingshen flying all the way to Beijing from London or Jia offering him a quiet shoulder during his tough times, it was evident how much they cared for each other despite their rough start.

Friend...

Mingshen found that word to be very foreign to him and so did that feeling.

"Why are you looking so serious?" She chuckled. "It’s like you don’t know what having a friend means." The source of thɪs content is novel•fire.net

"I don’t."

She was dumbfounded. "What do you mean you don’t know? I cannot talk about your other contacts but isn’t Wei your good friend?"

"That idiot Mafia King? He is just an acquaintance of mine," he shrugged.

"..."

"You two have literally known each other since childhood and your families are so super close, yet you say you are just acquaintances?"

He nodded.

"What constitutes for somebody to become your friend then?"

He shone. "They should be like Spicy!"

"..."

"But there is only one Spicy in this world so I will have only one friend," he proudly said.

"Ugh, don’t be proud of it. It’s actually very sad. I’m not saying have a plethora of friends but at least one or two good friends? How about you talk to Wei a little more? Hey, Huojin can be a great friend too. I believe you two do share some camaraderie."

"Spicy, isn’t it cruel of you to make me friends with your ex ok ok boyfriend?"

"He was never my boyfriend to become my ex in the first place so stop fooling around."

He grinned and stepped closer. "Spicy, Spicy, are we really friends?"

"If you would want us to."

"Definitely!" He nodded hard. "But what do friends do?" He tilted his head.

She shrugged. "How do you act with Wei? Hang out, talk about random stuff, help each other-"

"Rob them of their money?"

Her brow twitched. "Yeah, that’s your unique dynamic with him. Don’t even think of robbing my money. Not like I’m filthy rich in the first place."

He chuckled with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I’m filthy rich so doesn’t that make you filthy rich too?"

"I believe it can be Miss. Xie to become more filthy rich in the future," she smiled meaningfully.

"Which brings me to my next question and a very important one!" Mingshen held a look of utter seriousness. "Can friends have sex?"

"..."

"So you want me to be your friend...with benefits?"

He sheepishly blushed. "It’s a very simple equation, Spicy. You become Mrs. Yang and then you can be wife AND my friend I can have sex with~"

"How about I kick in between your legs before that happens?"

"How will we have super adorable children, Spicy?" he pouted. "I want three cutie pies from you!"

Jia wished she could faint.

Ugh, this is not how I expected the conversation to flow.

But then again, all conversations always took an unexpected turn whenever the devil was concerned.

"You want three children?" She arched her brow, surprised.

"Two girls and a boy. Not like their sex would be in my control but that’s my wish anyway~ Mom is tired of raising two idiot sons like me and my assistant."

Jia’s gaze slowly turned somber. Though a wide smile was stretched on his lips, she felt she sensed a hint of unspoken sadness behind that light in his eyes. She wondered if the death of his sister, Eu-Meh, made him unconsciously wish to have girls.

She smiled. "Hope your wish comes true."

Mingshen stared at her, getting a feeling as if she understood where he was coming from though she didn’t say it out loud. He didn’t wish to linger upon his sister’s memory for long.

"So, when should we start working~?" He blushed. "Should I decorate my room tonight with rose petals~? I can send away Mom and Dad if you want~"

Her brow twitched incessantly.

"A very tempting offer but humbly allow me to reject it."

"Heartless," he harrumphed. "You must know that I’ll only have children with you! Because I can only get it up for you-"

Jia violently pressed her palms against his mouth, aghast. "Yang Mingshen!! Do you not know how to hold back your tongue at all!?"

A smile shone in his eyes and with that familiar playful mischievousness, he softly brushed her palm with the tip of his tongue.

"Hey!"

She withdrew her hands in a flash, throwing him a glare. "You are impossible!"

She shook her head and decided to return to the main topic at hand.

Ugh, we diverted a little bit too far...

"About your patient," her gaze still held silent glares. "Do you think she could be Miss. Roulan’s daughter who had run away from Huayuan?"

He blinked twice. "...The timing does seem to match but how are you so sure?"

"She had introduced herself to your family as Mingyu, right? I think it’s a simple anagram to hide her real name - Yuming."
